Michael Georgetti is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses sculpture, installation, and textural paintings. Drawing inspiration from the abstract language of the modernist canon, design techniques, and the theatricality of display systems in consumer settings, Georgetti expands two-dimensional surfaces using cut and affixed or layered canvas forms. Georgetti treats his paintings as objects, setting them in custom-constructed silver and brass frames which are sometimes free-standing and sculptural.
Georgetti completed his Doctor of Philosophy, MFA, and BFA at RMIT University in Melbourne. He lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
